NBA legend Michael Jordan is well-known for so many things. Aside from his NBA accolades, he is known for the Air Jordan brand with Nike. Apparently, the icon can be very protective of his brand and Nike, in general, and former teammate Scottie Pippen can attest to that. The ex-NBA player had some horror stories about that, as Jordan treated the shoe brand like his own child. Unfortunately, it looks like 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick could get a chance to know what Pippen is talking about, firsthand.

On Sunday, the Coca-Cola 600 was rained out, being one of the first races that were affected by rain. Even when the race finally kicked off on Monday, it rained midway, forcing a stoppage. During the agonizing wait, Reddick decided that he was in a pranking mood, and the victim would be his boss, Michael Jordan.

Does Tyler Reddick have anything to fear from Michael Jordan?

The #45 driver mock-threatened to get his Nike shoes wet in the rain, though that was the least of his worries. In the actual race itself, his #45 car with the Air Jordan Jumpman livery, got a little scuffed up.

If Pippen’s story is anything to be concerned about, then Reddick should watch his back.

The ex-NBA star once talked about his experience on ‘The Jump’ show when his shoes didn’t live up to Jordan’s standards. He said, “Oh yes, I mean he wouldn’t sign an autograph for you. He wouldn’t even look at you. You definitely wasn’t coming in his house. So it was all about the Nike and yeah eventually about the brand Jordan, yeah.”

Meanwhile, Chauncey Billups, head coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, backed Pippen. He said, “Very first game playing against Michael Jordan in the Bulls. We had a guy named Greg Minor guarding him/ So they got in the little stuff. MJ’s going to the free throw line and he looks at Greg and he says, ‘ I should make you take my shoes off.”

“I looked down, I didn’t even realize it. I looked down, and he got the Jordans on. So I said, oh man it’s my first game ever. I said this is what I got to look forward to.”

What Did the Fans Say About This Whole Reddick and Jumpman Fiasco?

In light of all this, the famous Twitter page, ‘nascarcasm’ made the most of the situation, leaving fans in splits. They uploaded two images in a post and the fans did the rest in the comments section.

One of the photos that the page uploaded was of Reddick making a face, and the other was of his car, where we could see the Jumpman logo scuffed up.

“That is funny”

“Tyler hit everything out there but the checkered flag”

“Oh the humanity when that happens”

“Heelllll naaawwww aint no way!”

Tyler Reddick Enjoyed a Fairly Decent Day in the Office

When the Coca-Cola 600 eventually kicked off, Reddick was in contention for most of the race. In fact, he stuck close to the Top 5, even snatching the lead on a couple of occasions. In the end, though, he finished the race in 5th place, behind teammate Bubba Wallace. Meanwhile, Ryan Blaney picked up his first win of the season and a much-needed confidence boost.

The Team Penske driver was ahead of William Byron and Martin Truex Jr. As far as Reddick is concerned, he is under no pressure, as he already has a win under his belt. In other words, he has qualified for the Playoffs and is in championship contention. Meanwhile, Bubba Wallace is still on the hunt for his first win and a shot at the Playoffs.
