Every sport comes with its own share of idiosyncrasies and challenges. No sport can outdo the other. Some require years of rigorous practice to internalize it, while others require a huge amount of mental endurance. NASCAR is one such sport, where skills and mental prowess go hand-in-hand. And in no way can it be a game for the faint-hearted. This is what Denny Hamlin believes to the core of his heart.
And he attested to this fact in his latest podcast episode.

Denny Hamlin believes he can beat MJ in NASCAR
While all forms of sport have their own set of challenges, a certain percentage can be learned through a bit of dedicated practice. But the same can’t be said for NASCAR or motorsports in general. And Denny Hamlin abides by this fact.
The co-owner of 23XI Racing believes that NASCAR is only one such sport where legends from other forms of sports cannot outperform the drivers. Not even legends like Michael Jordan.
In an episode of Actions Detrimental, Hamlin expressed, “There’s only upside for me. No matter what it is… there is going to be a putt I’m gonna make, that he (Michael Jordan) is going to miss. But he will never f***ing run a lap faster than me around a racetrack. Ever. Ever. So it’s not equal. “
The Joe Gibbs Racing driver asserts the fact, “I always said that about our sport, it’s the one sport no other athlete will be able to come in and beat us in any capacity. Zero.”
Denny Hamlin in order to reinforce the fact also drew another comparison with the legendary Micahel Jordan. He exclaimed, “But there might be a 3-pointer that I might hit that you know playing horse, that Michael Jordan might miss. There’s a chance. It is a legitimate chance. But no one will ever get in a race car… run faster than me around a race track. If you in another sport. So that’s what makes our sport unique.”

This proves the fact Denny Hamlin is nothing less than a legend when it comes to NASCAR. The 42-year-old has won the Daytona 500 thrice in his career. Also, he has 49 wins to his name. Although he had come close to winning the Cup Series championship, he has not been able to clinch one. One of which he lost by a very small margin to another veteran driver, Jimmie Johnson.
Nevertheless, this chiseled driver still has the chance to win one, perhaps in the 2023 Cup Series. After winning at Kansas and finishing fifth at the Dover Raceway, Hamlin currently stands in the 4th position in the points table.
