With just 3 races remaining, until the round of 16 begins, every NASCAR team is putting out their best to either secure their position in the driver standings or just make it out of the bubble. But the struggle stands out for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s 23XI Racing, as their pit crew has been consistently pulling their drivers down.

Earlier, it was Bubba Wallace. And on Monday in Michigan, it was the #45 driver, Tyler Reddick. Reddick showed incredible prowess, but it all came down to an imperfect pit stop, and that led to an unfortunate P30 finish.

The 23XI owner approved of how Reddick must have felt and called it ‘frustrating’

Tyler Reddick led the lap when NASCAR called off the race due to rain in Michigan. Over the remaining 126 laps, the #45 Toyota icon put up a great fight against Martin Truex Jr. However, with just 43 laps to go, Tyler Reddick decided to make a pit stop before taking off at full speed and snatching the checkered flag.

But things took an unexpected turn when the No. 45’s right rear wheel got loose, and he had to come back to the pit road for a quick repair. A poor pit stop at such a deciding moment proved fatal for the 27-year-old, as he lost many spots after that.

In a recent tweet by NASCAR on NBC, NASCAR fans saw a justifiably furious Reddick cursing his pit crew using The F-Word four times. Later, Michael Jordan’s partner, Denny Hamlin, spoke about this and agreed that it was very normal for Reddick to have behaved that way.

In one of his podcasts, Hamlin said in an apologetic tone, “Tyler Reddick has absolutely 100% right to be as angry and frustrated as he is. We have let him down more times than we have brought him up. And we’ve got to do a better job of that. It’s frustrating, trust me.”

Denny Hamlin explains the employment procedure at 23XI

In the same podcast, The JGR racer explained that the team is not yet where they want to be in the Cup Series. They have cars that are fast enough to win races, but speed alone does not win a race. And with the ushering in of Next Gen cars in NASCAR, the aforesaid is undeniably true.

Michael Jordan’s partner admitted that 23XI Racing consists of just 10 members. Many of these members were previously part of other teams, whose contracts had ended with their employers. So they came over to 23XI and said that they wanted to work for the team.

Denny further explained, “So then we take and we have all the information to try these guys out look at their history, and say, is this somebody we wanna hire or not?

“So again it’s a huge expense for 23XI too. Hire another pit crew that is not for one of our cars, but is the investment worth it?” said a worried Hamlin.

When asked about how long it takes for an absolute fresher to understand their role in a pit crew and hone their skills of going through a pit stop, Denny said that the coaches at Joe Gibbs Racing would know it better.
