It is safe to say that 23XI Racing had a day to forget at Richmond Raceway on Sunday. Surprisingly, none of them their drivers finished in the top 15. While Tyler Reddick was victorious at the Circuit of The Americas, it didn’t go that well on the weekend as he finished 16th. On the other hand, Bubba Wallace continues to have a torrid time as he finished in the 22nd position. What was even more embarrassing for Michael Jordan and his team was the seemingly minor infraction that took place at the pit stop.

Jordan is as great as a legend can be, regardless of the sport. Coupled with that is his personality, which not just parades, but also instills confidence in his peers.

However, that has not been the case with his Cup Series team. Despite his patience, things haven’t quite gone according to plan. It only got worse recently in Richmond and fans understand his disappointment.

Michael Jordan looks dejected as he reacts to the pit stop incident at Richmond Raceway

It is not every day that one sees Michael Jordan in the pit box of a NASCAR race. Yes, the first-ever billionaire player in NBA history was once again present to support his team but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disastrous outing. On a day when his drivers struggled on the track, even his crew members let him down.

It so happened that during a pit stop, the right tire on Bubba Wallace’s car went loose. In an attempt to not let the tire run away, one of the non-pit crew members fell into the pit lane over the barrier. This resulted in a safety violation from NASCAR as the crew member was over the wall without donning a helmet.

Moreover, this resulted in Wallace serving a pass-through penalty for the safety violation. No wonder Jordan looked dejected and expressed his displeasure over the incident.

Interestingly, Wallace was running 11th prior to the pit stop but eventually finished in the 22nd position. This only adds more misery to his difficult 2023 season. One would hope that he doesn’t come up once again with something like his “replaced” comment.

These are tough times for 23XI Racing. As things stand, Tyler Reddick stands 13th in the Cup Series table with 187 points while Wallace is in the 22nd position with 118 points. Jordan and Denny Hamlin will have to look into this deeply to rectify the ongoing issues.

Fans understand Michael Jordan’s frustration amid the Richmond Raceway incident

Given what Jordan has achieved in his life and the mental fortitude he possesses, it must have been painful for him to watch the team slip up the way it did. The fans couldn’t help but sense how it must be to be in his shoes then.

Some of the fans even pointed out how helpless Jordan must have been feeling then. He would probably have been regretting to have come to watch the race live. It is time that he and Hamlin took the call and stop getting used to mediocre results.

It is such a pity that Jordan had to witness this incident live. What happened in the pit stop was sloppy and unprofessional, to say the least—the penalty on top of it was pure humiliation. It is inevitable that the team members too would be feeling guilty for letting him down.
