Michael Jordan has stood the test of time. While not many expected him to own a NASCAR Cup Series team, he surprised many with the origin of 23XI Racing in 2021, co-owned by NASCAR’s very own Denny Hamlin. Having said that, his 23XI Racing team hasn’t had the best of fortunes in the 2023 season. One such event recently saw a lot of banter come his way.
Safe to say, Jordan’s NASCAR team is fairly new in comparison to the other teams in the Cup Series. However, given the intense competition, there are going to be certain expectations. In fact, a lot could backfire should things go wrong on the track.

In all fairness, both 23XI Racing drivers, Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick, have done decently well this season. With Reddick sitting at 13th and Wallace sitting at 14th, the duo stands a bright chance of making it to the playoffs. In fact, the #45 driver could have been assured a berth in the final 16 had things not gone south on Monday.
After taking pole position in the qualifying race at Michigan, Reddick had a strong chance of making it big. In the rain-hampered main race, the 27-year-old was toe-to-toe with eventual winner Chris Buescher with 43 laps to go. However, things drastically changed after he took a pit stop break.

After the break, his car spun out with a loose right-rear wheel. Obviously, Reddick was left furious with the reckless approach from his team members. In fact, it was quite an embarrassing moment for Michael Jordan and his team. The error deprived Reddick of strongly competing for the win who eventually finished in 30th place.
Indeed, it was utterly disappointing for Reddick. The California-born driver gained a lot of attention during the race. While it was not just for his performance behind the wheel but also for his car’s attractive paint scheme, Reddick’s car boasted the graphics of the famous sports game Rocket League.

As per Levvvel.com, Rocket League is forecasted to have earned $943 million in revenue. While that’s amazing, there was some interesting news for the fans concerning the paint scheme used in Michigan. Sports Business Journal journalist Adam Stern reported that the said paint scheme would be available for the fans to be purchased in the game in the near future.
