For years, it has been Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott who has been an appellation of road courses. The driver has been crowned the ‘King of Road Courses’ given his indomitable prowess in churning out a victory on these tracks, or 18 victories to be exact. However, the narrative took a different turn when Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin‘s team’s #45 usurped Elliott from the position in the last season by notching victories on the same road tracks.
Furthermore, Bubba Wallace from the Michael Jordan-owned team had also crowned his teammate Tyler Reddick as the ‘Jesus of road courses’. The title seems befitting for Reddick after winning COTA, but it seems that an unforeseen threat looms over his title as a new ‘ace’ of road courses seems to make its presence felt ahead of the road course races at Watkins Glen and Indianapolis. And this new road course ace is surely finding his momentum, which was apparent in the pre-race interview at Michigan International Speedway.

The Cook Out 400 race on the track at Richmond assuredly reinforced that the 2023 Cup Series is perhaps the most erratic season in the history of NASCAR. Nothing can be ascertained for sure until the regular season draws to a conclusion. This was also evident when RFK Racing, under the struggling Ford banner, notched their first victory of the season. Chris Buescher delivered a stellar performance and did not leave room for mistakes.
The driver was able to capitalize on various situations and finally took the checkered flag. However, team owner Brad Keselowski and others believe that Buescher will be able to continue this momentum in the upcoming road courses, where he exhibited unhinged dominance in the last season. Owing to this fact, one of the reporters in the pre-race interview expressed that Buescher was the new ‘ace’ of road courses and asked whether he would be able to carry a similar dominance in Michigan and the remaining races.
To this, Buescher divulged, “Road-course racing has been a lot of fun, and we have been very competitive at them and fast race cars make me look too good at those kinds of places because it is not my background. But it’s a track that we had fantastic speed that was into last year, both of us were very fascinated. It’s definitely one that we are looking at; obviously lap one led to our highway at Rio and being on fire and all that nonsense last year so, we are definitely trying to pay attention. To that one trying and guard yourself against that.”
“The car has come a long way too, we have made some changes, and the industry has to where we don’t have to worry about it in the same regard as we did at that point and hopefully we can get through it nice and clean because once you do and it kind of establishes yourself in the running order it certainly cleans up a lot as we get in the race,” the No. 17 Ford Mustang driver added.

Nevertheless, the team owner of RFK Racing and also the teammate of Chris Buescher believe that the momentum that the team has portrayed in the ongoing season was beyond comparison. He asserted that the team is ready to take the next step in order to be a championship contender.
Brad Keselowski expressed, “A lot of progress over the last 12 months. We started making progress immediately when I came in, it’s just you don’t realize that you make a lot of investments in people and equipment and none of them are light switches and I feel like about this time last year, we really started to hit it […]”
“I think we still have more steps to go, super proud of the progress over the last 12 months. We need to make another leap to be playoff-winning kind of cars and that’s the next level for us that we are committed to but certainly proud of the progress that we made […]”
