With the rising death toll, the country yet again witnessed the viciousness of gun violence. Despite the gruesome mass shooting that rocked the nation hours after the Juneteenth celebrations, the shocking incident has had a ripple effect felt even in NASCAR.

Brett Griffin Comes Out in Aid of His Fellow Spotter as the Exchange of Words Continues Online

As the world realized the after-effects of the gruesome shooting in Chicago, NASCAR nation had its own bloody battle between teammates, Freddie Kraft and 23XI Racing’s strategies and systems engineer, JR Houston. While SHR’s Joel Edmonds, spotter for Aric Almirola, expressed his thoughts about the gruesome killings, Kaulig Racing spotter, Brett Griffin also joined him as they called out the authorities for their inadequacy.
Griffin’s tweet read, “Do they arrest these people or let em just take a few days off and get back after it?” To which the SHR spotter replied, “depends on your political offiliation like ny city,” taking a sarcastic dig. Soon the debate took on a different route when Michael Jordan’s NASCAR teammate, Kraft jumped in to help his friend but ended up quarreling with his 23XI Racing teammate.
With the engineer choosing sharp words against Kraft, Griffin had to lay in some cover fire as the exchanges became more personal. As he called out the hypocrisy, Griffin also had some questions for Houston when he asked, ” He clearly wants attention from spotters. Well you have mine. What you wanna do now, JR?”

This, however, didn’t go very well for the 23XI camp and Kraft, as most fans took JR Houston’s side in the argument.

Amid the violence and grief that followed, NASCAR has an evolving debate at hand, as the difference of opinion between the teammates developed into a major debate online.
