It wasn’t just the fans; the drivers and team were taken by surprise when NASCAR decided to race on Saturday for the Clash. The Cup Series champ turned Fox analyst, Kevin Harvick, who had his first-ever NASCAR analyst debut, also had to rush. Joining Mike Joy and his old pal Clint Bowyer, Harvick looked all excited at the Clash.
However, for some, it wasn’t the most unfiltered, raw, and natural version of Kevin Harvick on Fox that the fans are used to seeing. Given that it was his first appearance, you sure do not want to put a foot wrong, and that was his play in his first impression. However, NASCAR insiders feel that, once he gets in his groove as the season progresses, we will be able to see Harvick open up and add his flavor.

While Kevin Harvick has hung his boot from driving in NASCAR, he has found himself a dream retirement job. Throughout the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, he will take up the role of analyst in the Fox booth. Clearly, Fox Sports made a wise call by roping the 48-year-old into the role of analyst. No one comes close to knowing the finest details and having in-depth knowledge about the sport like Harvick does.
However, it wasn’t an all-guns-blazing approach for him in his first appearances, but according to Quigs, the former SHR driver will open up as the season progresses. Speaking on the Rubbin Is Racing YouTube channel, Quigs explained how Harvick will come out of his shell after what was his first sophisticated appearance on Fox. “I think that’s common. It’s his first real broadcast.
“You probably try to do things a little more buttoned-up. I think when you get 15 races in and it’s just him and Clint on lap 300 of some race. He’ll be a lot looser and they’ll kinda just let it fly. He was kinda calling off people out a little bit and I thought he was good. The big thing with him is, he’s the only guy in the booth that’s ever driven a Next Gen car. So he’ll have more insights that they didn’t have before.”
Meanwhile, Daniel DiOrio was keen to see if Quig’s prediction indeed came true. Because Kevin Harvick also manages a lot of the drivers under his KHI management roster.
Will the new analyst truly dish out unfiltered opinions for his own KHI drivers?

Ryan Preece, Shane van Gisbergen, Josh Berry, Harrison Burton, Corey LaJoie, and many others are part of Kevin Harvick, Inc. So with him taking on the broadcast role at Fox, it could be tricky for the KHI founder to stay true to his role in the booth. At least this was the counterargument made by DiOrio after Quig’s remarks.

DiOrio said, “What I like about Kevin Harvick is that we’ve seen him driving as a Stewart-Haas Racing driver for the last couple of years, and that’s kind of what we’ve known of him. But now to get to see him as an unbiased broadcaster as well as KHI management. So he has a lot of these drivers that he’s representing and has skin in the game on success riding on these guys. To me, I’m really excited to watch how that unfolds to see if Quig’s point is true and if he starts airing it out and speaking more frankly.”
