Earlier, former NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson competed in the IndyCar race at the Iowa Speedway. Needless to say, it was a hugely eventful race and the 46-year-old rolled back the years. The NASCAR living legend is currently racing in his second IndyCar season.
However, this is the first time that he is racing on oval layouts, as opposed to only running on road courses last year.
Following the hectic race, Johnson eventually finished in a fine 11th place on Saturday. The best part is that he has another shot at the Iowa race because it is a double-header race weekend. Meanwhile, Josef Newgarden went on to win the 250-lap race, while pole-sitter Will Power finished 3rd after starting on pole.

He said, “I tried to run the painted line like I would a Cup car, and as soon as I did that, I thought, ‘You idiot’. It was a lot of fun, moving up spots, racing hard, driving with the regulars up front.”
