The crown shall find its new and rightful owner, this may have been proclaimed for centuries. But times have changed, especially in NASCAR. It is not about kings or crowns, but drivers and their popularity. And Hendrick Motorsports ace Kyle Larson seems to think along the same lines. And he agrees with this notion in his latest podcast episode.

Kyle Larson shocks everyone with his revelation

There is no doubt in the fact that Chase Elliott is not one of the most, but just the most popular driver in NASCAR in contemporary times. It is not because he is the son of veteran Cup Series driver Bill Elliott, but because he has earned the position. He is already a Cup Series champion along with a Xfinity championship in his rookie season. Also, he has entered the coveted list of the top-75 drivers in NASCAR’s history.

But his teammate seems to be on a different page. Kyle Larson perhaps abides by the fact that the past should be buried and forgotten. Even though Larson was caught more than once in on-track debacles. He revealed this in the latest episode of his podcast “High Limit Room.” He acknowledged, “I was upset with him. I kind of love it. Ross is great. He is like, I think he is sort of owning it.”

However, the main crux of his episode was, “And I think he has got the potential to be more popular than Chase Elliott, so I think it’s awesome.”

Larson’s reveal might have been surprising to a lot of motorsports fans. And to add to their surprise, it looks like the JR Motorsports owner, Dale Earnhardt Jr seems to agree with Larson’s proposition.

Jeff Gluck recently posted Larson’s podcast on Twitter with the caption, “A lot of people may not realize @KyleLarsonRacin has a podcast, too. In the latest episode, he goes into great detail on the Denny battle and talks the Noah/Ross fight. On Ross: ‘I think he’s got the potential to be more popular than Chase Elliott.'”

And under the post, Junior reacted with an emoji of a pair of side eyes. This has left many fans speculating and in an uneasy state and leaving their comments.

One fan commented, Larson and Jr. are on the same wavelength.”

While another wrote, “I will say this about Ross, as someone who’s not his fan. He reminds me a lot of Brad K. When Brad got the 88 ride through his first 3-4 years in Cup, we remember the aggressiveness/recklessness & rivalries but Brad refined himself. If Ross can do that he can become more popular.”

A fan could not believe what he heard on the podcast, “I went back 4 times and replayed the part where Kyle said “I kind of love it. I think Ross is great, and I kind of think he’s owning it.” because it was so unexpected. I think Kyle’s personality is light-hearted and probably one of few who gets Ross.”

Another fan enquired, “If that was true about Ross wouldn’t he have won MPD last year after his Hsil Melin move?  I just don’t see it but I am a bit biased!”

It is really a tough choice between Ross and Chase. Understanding their present scenarios both have their unique ways of approaching a race. However, it is to be understood, Chase Elliott has already proved his capabilities as a driver, but Ross is yet to do so. Nevertheless, the Trackhouse Racing driver has a high probability of winning his maiden Cup Series championship as he leads the players’ standings.
