“Three [charters] is definitely the best number [to have]”. Brad Keselowski once said as the charter debate for RFK emerged. While his eye was set on Connor Zilisch, the prolific young driver making a name for himself in the Xfinity series, that opportunity passed when Zilisch signed with JR Motorsports. However, does that mean Keselowski’s plans to bring in a third car are completely out of play?
After Brad Keselowski dropped a cheeky hint on RFK Racing’s post about job opportunities, fans jumped to the understanding that the team’s third charter is most likely on its way to the 2025 NASCAR grid.

Brad Keselowski’s wish to bring in a third car is no secret. Thus, when RFK Racing dropped a seemingly innocuous post about job openings, no one thought anything would come of it until Keselowski jumped into the conversation. His cheeky reply to the post on X now has heads turning.
Lots of openings… https://t.co/VeMPeVkRd6

The hint of there being a lot of openings could mean different things. It can simply be that RFK is looking for more people, not specifically in the technical divisions that relate to a new driver. On the other side, it could be, as fans think, a hint at a new charter and third car coming into the picture. The guess would not be a long shot based on what Keselowski has said before.
In an interview with EssentiallySports, Keselowski mentioned the big advantages a third car would bring to the team. “There’s a lot of reasons we’re interested in a third charter. Like it’s good for us as a company, everything we’re trying to do.” At the time, Connor Zilisch took up a big chunk of the team’s attention, with his debut in the Truck Series at COTA. While the Zilisch option did not pan out, it doesn’t mean plans for the third charter are out of the question.

“But you know, there’s talented guys out there available that we would like to be in position for, and he’s certainly one of them.” This, combined with his cheeky hint on X, might just confirm the possibility of a third car’s arrival in 2025. It also coincides with rumors that a new charter agreement between teams and NASCAR is nearly ready and will come out in the near future.
As for the fans, they certainly think so and already have their picks of what strategy RFK should take.

NASCAR fans took this hint as a near confirmation of a third car coming in for RFK. After all, Brad Keselowski is a co-owner. Fans began theorizing who could take the reins for the car, with one pointing towards Ryan Preece. The driver of the #41 Mustang for Stewart-Hass Racing (SHR) will be out of a spot for 2025 after Stewart and Gene Haas called quits on their partnership. It left 3 out of the 4 drivers changing spots for a new seat. He is the only driver from the team who does not have a spot secured for 2025. “Honestly Preece to RFK has become like the worst kept secret. Like Gragson to SHR might have been better kept,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
Another fan joked about the possibility of a NASCAR legend returning to the oval with Brad Keselowski- Jeff Gordon. Although there are no signs of the 4-time Cup Series winner coming out of retirement to see another season, fans found it hilarious to joke about Gordon being back in contention for the playoffs. They wrote, “Jeff Gordon added to the playoffs.” Gordon does have an impressive record in the league, with the third-highest overall race wins in NASCAR history. Perhaps what fans are vying for is a one-off appearance from the legend.
On these lines, another fan jested about bringing back another legend. “Clearly he is implying that Norm Benning will drive the 6 next year,” the fan wrote. Norm Benning is a driver with an extensive career, although one thing that stands in his way is his age. He is a 72-year-old driver, racing with his own team in the Truck Series, Norm Benning Racing. He became known as Stormin’ Norman after a brilliant performance in his Truck Series debut on dirt tracks back in 2013.

What all fans agree on is that Brad Keselowski is hinting at a new charter coming for the next year. Their basis for this conclusion is that Keselowski is a bad liar. “Yep, it’s a 3rd charter. He’s been very mysterious in press conferences and interviews when asked about it. Brad ain’t a very good liar when it comes to business moves lmao.” In the larger picture, the fans think that Keselowski’s implications in press conferences are proof enough of his upcoming policy. Whenever he was asked about a new car, he did not shy away from the question but showed support for the idea.
In the coming weeks, fans will get a clear idea of what will happen. Stewart-Haas Racing already faced the consequences of fielding four cars on the grid, but that does not necessarily mean the same fate will fall RFK.
