Recently, reigning champion Kyle Larson confessed that he would not be opposed to a tryst in Formula One. The Hendrick Motorsports driver revealed that he was going to attend the F1 finale at Abu Dhabi later this year. In all honesty, it would not be too farfetched for Larson to consider the idea of dabbling into F1. This is because, he has a reputation for being a hugely versatile driver and he has been successful in different fields of racing.

Speaking to The Athletic, he said,“I don’t follow F1 that much, but it’d be cool to test one, to see what that’s like. I’d love to experience the speed and grip and all that, who knows, sometime down the road compete in an event. I’m down, I had no idea there was a rookie test. Hey, if I’m there then I might as well get into a car. If there’s a team that will let me, I would pack my helmet bag right now. Head there, go get some laps. Let me know!”

Of course, if the reigning champion does get a chance to hop into an F1 car to test, which team would be race for? Logically speaking, the Haas F1 team makes the most sense, since it is an American team. So the outfit will jump at the chance of fielding an American driver, and a champion to boot.

However, an alternate option could be the Alfa Romeo team. This is because of the team’s recent links to Andretti, who had planned a takeover. Although the deal fell through, there could still be a chance that the team could give the 29-year-old a run. The only question is, will any F1 team give him a chance? And if they do, will he be as successful as he has been in the Cup Series, Sports Cars and in the dirt arena?
