Sebastian Vettel is definitely one of the most successful F1 drivers in his era. The German driver, who announced his retirement at the end of the 2022 season owns a lot of racing records. Admittedly, other drivers have broken some of them, but he still doggedly clings to a few records. Away from the F1 scene, Vettel has been extraordinarily successful in the Race of Champions. In fact, he has helped Team Germany win a record 8 times.

When he challenged for his seventh ROC crown, he was up against Team USA NASCAR in the final. At that time, Team USA NASCAR consisted of Kyle Busch and older brother Kurt Busch. Vettel’s task was all the more difficult because teammate Pascal Wehrlein had a crash which sidelined him the rest of the competition. In essence, the then Ferrari driver was competing in the team competition as a literal one man army.

How did Sebastian Vettel clinch the team title?
His first group race saw him pitted against former colleagues, Jenson Button and David Coulthard for Team United Kingdom. Then he had to face Team Nordic, consisting of Tom Kristensen and Petter Solberg. Nevertheless, he rattled off four straight wins before advancing to the semifinal to face Team Colombia. The four-time Formula One world champion managed to blank Juan Pablo Montoya and Gabby Chaves to enter the final.
Meanwhile, the second semifinal was an all USA affair, with NASCAR facing IndyCar. Needless to say, Kurt and Kyle Busch defeated IndyCar counterparts, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Alexander Rossi. So, the final was the Busch brothers against Sebastian Vettel. However, the German maestro managed beat the Joe Gibbs Racing and the then Stewart-Haas Racing driver, to win the final. With that, he single-handedly won the team competition for Germany with eight wins on the trot. In addition to that he nabbed a seventh crown out of a record-breaking eight.
