One of the key focus points from the announcement of Kyle Busch to Richard Childress Racing next season was the mention of his INDY500 aspirations. The current Joe Gibbs Racing driver revealed how his future boss was all in for him to race into the iconic fixture.

“I made sure it was in the deal. I can go run it if I want to,” he had said about his chances of running the race in the future. While it was understood that Busch would race with a Chevrolet-backed team in the INDY500, there was no mention of the name of a team.

However, that picture seems to be clearer now because a contender has emerged.

A team that also happens to be a major power force in Formula 1, McLaren, or in the INDYCAR world, Arrow McLaren SP.

As you would expect, this potential link up sent NASCAR and Rowdy fans into a frenzy as they reacted to this report.

Kyle Busch would be a big positive for INDYCAR according to McLaren shareholder

The comments that started the Kyle Busch to McLaren in INDY500 rumors in the first place were made none other than by Sam Schmidt, one of the principal stockholders in Arrow McLaren SP.

“I’d love to figure out a way to get him on my team,” he emphasized. “Do you have his number?”1

Schmidt mentioned how Kurt Busch’s 6th place finish in the famed race in 2014 was proof in itself of his inarguably more talented younger brother potentially finishing in a very competitive position.

The McLaren shareholder also added how Busch running for his team would be a big positive for the entire racing series in general.

With that said, do you think Kyle Busch can race in the INDY500 with the McLaren brand? And if so, is he a favorite to go on and win the crown?
