Ahead of the highly anticipated race in Chicago on Sunday, F1 champion and proud Garage 56 driver, Jenson Button has made a startling comment about the organization barring his wife from entering its first-ever street course. Button who was at the helm of NASCAR’s Le Man debut this year with the Hendrick Motorsports, recently revealed how his wife was not permitted to enter the track despite being a “VIP.”

The former McLaren driver also shared his plans for the weekend, being all set to hit the track. While the humidity in the city made the Brit break a sweat, flying down from LA, he briefed about the incident when NBC’s Nate Ryan asked him about visiting the track.

The 43-year-old racer also shared the glorious Mobil 1 sponsored Rick Ware Racing Mustang that he’ll be racing in on Sunday.

Jenson Button Discloses Why His Wife Was Stopped From Entering the Course at Chicago

Jenson Button is indeed a man of many talents. Over the years, Button has been trying out newer pastures, trying his luck in Stock car racing and endurance racing. With his Cup Series debut done and dusted at the coveted Circuit of The Americas earlier this year, the Chicago street race will be his second race in NASCAR’s top-tier promotion.

Making his debut on one of the most unforgiving tracks on the schedule, Button seemed more like he was on rough seas before he found his rhythm, finishing the race 18th. And as we head into another exciting race weekend, gearing for his Chicago run, Button and his wife, Brittny Ward visited the course where Ward was denied entry despite having a VIP pass.

In a press conference, when NBC’s Nate Ryan asked, “Have you walked the track yet?” the driver responded, saying, “I tried to, but they didn’t let my wife on… it was a ‘no’.”

“So, I’m doing it tomorrow morning,” he said with a chuckle.

When further asked, “why didn’t they let her on”, he added, She has a VIP pass and VIPs aren’t allowed on-track. I’m going to walk it tomorrow. I was always going to walk it twice–once with the family, and then tomorrow morning with my crew chief and the team.”

“I’ll be up bright and early at 7 a.m., and hopefully, it’s going to be a little cooler as well.”
