Hopes and aspirations are perhaps the two quintessential elements that have guided every individual through onerous times. The thirst to excel and reach the zenith of one’s career has surely the propensity to move mountains, let alone ascend on the professional front. Moreover, there have been enough instances where this faith in self has worked wonders, and the world of NASCAR is surely one such place.

NASCAR has witnessed numerous instances pertaining to the rise and fall of the drivers. However, they have shrugged off the dust and have not shied away from starting afresh. Perhaps these words may sound overly philosophical, but this may surely act as a guiding force for budding racers like Keelan Harvick, son of 2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick.

The young soul with big dreams evidently learned a profound lesson from the former Formula 1 champion Jenson Button in a candid conversation. Moreover, it seems that Button had some invaluable advice for Keelan Harvick before he forays into the world of professional racing.

Kevin Harvick’s son reveals his career plan in motor racing to Jenson Button

Kevin Harvick’s 11-year-old son has exhibited grit and the resolve that deserves adulation as he begins his racing career in earnest after making a debut in X30 Junior, just months back. Without being overshadowed by the success of his father, Junior Harvick is surely carving his own name into the world of racing through his own talent and willpower. However, to be successful, it is not just talent that will propel him further in his career but certain other elements that Jenson Button disclosed during his conversation with Keelan Harvick.

Keelan Harvick aspires to be a NASCAR driver, like his father. However, he is keeping his options open. And we know this because, at one point in the interview, Keelan Harvick inquisitively asked, “What does it take to be a Formula 1 racer?”

He further let out, “If NASCAR doesn’t work, I would like to be a Formula 1 racer.”

To this, the LeMans driver retorted, “Natural ability, but that’s something that you are gifted, you know. You need to work on that even the best drivers in the world, they need to work on their talent to be better because somebody else out there working harder.”

“Putting in the effort as you mentioned already, working with the team, that’s a big one. You can be quick on your own, but you are going to be a lot quicker if you have got the support of a team around you.”

Jenson Button spills the beans on his experience in driving beside Lewis Hamilton

Button, who has known what victory tastes like, was considerate of the fact that there would be curve balls thrown on the road to success, and in order to overcome all the roadblocks, perfect teamwork is a necessity. Continuing on the same lines, Button expressed, “That was one thing when I won the world championship in F1 in 2009, before you were born, I left the team and everyone was like why are you leaving? Where are you going to go?”

“And I was going to McLaren, so I went from Brawn to McLaren and I wanted to race alongside Lewis Hamilton because everyone was saying he’s the upcoming star, he’s the best driver in the world. I have just won the world championship, so I want to put myself in the same equipment as Lewis Hamilton and I knew he was quick and I knew I had to make sure that the team was supporting me.”

Button also asserted that he made sure that he was part of every detail that went into the building of the car and spent time with the engineers and car mechanics, who worked the real magic on the car. He also made sure that these individuals get their due credit for the creation of such a car.

Button also advised Keelan, “You are going to have difficult days. You are gonna have days where you kind of throw your helmet and not going to want to race anymore, but those are the days that really build you. Build you into a man and give you strength really for future tough times.”
