The tagline of the beverage brand promises, “Red Bull gives you wings.” It seems that promises are finally paying off for the Milton Keynes-based team. Whether it’s Formula 1 or NASCAR, Red Bull Racing is out there setting the tone for motor racing with its indomitable spirit. They have been surely invincible throughout the season and are willing to do so for the rest of the season.

While a part of the world and Formula 1 fans were witnessing another clean victory by the 2x F1 champion Max Verstappen, however, on the other side of the Atlantic, uncertainty loomed over the debut race in Chicago. But the rains eventually gave up as the stock cars revved up their engines and zoomed into the streets of downtown Chicago.

And the results were nothing less than breathtaking as the debutant Shane Van Gisbergen went on take the victory at the inaugural race. While NASCAR fans were taken aback by the surprising victory, however, the world of motorsports enthusiasts and especially the Red Bull counterpart Max Verstappen was rooting for the Kiwi.

Shane Van Gisbergen’s victory strikes a chord with the Formula 1 Red Bull counterpart

There is no denying the fact that Red Bull is having a bullish effect on the world of motorsports. While Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is ruling the tracks of open-wheel racing, on the other hand, its fellow counterpart Shane Van Gisbergen is out to dominate the world of Supercars and NASCAR by bringing victories in both formats.

Furthermore, it seems that Verstappen was on cloud nine as the 3x Supercar champion made it to the start-finish line ahead of the rest of the pack. While it was the Cup Series drivers who were taken aback by the driving prowess of the Kiwi and perhaps added to their woes. Chase Elliott even exclaimed the fact He’s going to go home and tell all of his friends how bad we are.”

Nevertheless, the 2x Formula champion in a pre-race conference in Silverstone revealed he had watched the NASCAR race. He disclosed, “I stayed awake to watch it. And I’ve never felt so nervous in my life watching someone else race and trying to win it. So yeah, I was literally screaming in front of my monitor for him to win that.”

The Red Bull driver also added, “I mean that is impressive to jump in the car, and you don’t know, they are very hard cars to drive. And he just goes in there, and he absolutely dominates the race. So yeah, I know he’s a great driver. I know what he’s capable of[…] He is a crazy right-foot-braker still

However, the appreciation for the fellow Red Bull driver did not end there. Verstappen also revealed that he reached out to Van Gisbergen and congratulated him on his maiden victory in the world of stock car racing. However, it is not the first time that a non-NASCAR driver made his debut in the world of stock car racing.

But no one has found success as Gisbergen did. Rather the 34-year-old is the second driver after Johnny Rutherford to win in the debut race. Furthermore, Kimi Raikkonen the former Formula 1 champion had also taken the same seat as Van Gisbergen twice. But the former F1 driver did not finish higher than 29th.

While NASCAR is opening up avenues for other motorsport racers to make their debut in stock car racing, the audience was inquisitive if Verstappen would join NASCAR. To this, the driver jestingly replied, “No! It’s not my style, I think. I mean, I like watching it. I think it’s really, really cool. And I was really happy for Shane, but I’m happy to maybe go there and just have a beer myself and enjoy the show.”
