During the podcast, LaJoie said, “Well he’s (Busch) not driving that car next year. I’d hate it for a Kyle Busch fan. He will find a job somewhere. There are certainly some rumors that there are some offers on the table. So potential Chevy team, two potential Chevy teams, a potential Ford team and there’s an option potentially with Toyota. But I think we’ll see our little buddy (Ty Gibbs) in the 18 next year guys, I swear it is.”

Someone mentioned that he (LaJoie) finished ahead of Gibbs at Richmond and LaJoie swiftly mentioned, “I know I was pumped up about that. Ty Gibbs is two for three with me.”

The race at Richmond wasn’t really good for LaJoie, but regardless, he was still happy that he finished ahead of the 19-year-old grandson of Joe Gibbs.

Ty Gibbs ended up dead last during his latest venture in the Cup Series after his engine gave up after 180 laps. Though it wasn’t much of a concern since he’s only replacing Kurt Busch at the moment and not competing full time. Plus, his other outings have been significantly better than Richmond. He even finished in the top 10 once.

On the other hand, Corey LaJoie’s season has only seen one top-5 finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway in his 24-race starts this season. He is currently sitting in 31st place on the driver’s standings, with no chance to get into the playoffs, even with a few races remaining. But regardless of this year’s performance, LaJoie is mostly seen to be fairly doing well with his machinery at hand. We hope that he can improve over the course of the next season or so.
