With the end of the Kyle Busch contract saga past week, the season-long speculation came to a halt. When the two-time Cup Series champion made an announcement about his future, starting with the 2023 season with Richard Childress Racing.

And recently in the pre-race show last weekend before the race at Bristol Motor Speedway, former race car driver turned commentator, Kyle Petty gave a blunt response regarding the move of the 37-year-old, Busch with RCR.

In that pre-race, Kyle Petty was asked if the move by the JGR driver was a good one or a bad one. To which Petty replied, “Welcome to Kyle Petty’s world and accept the hate when it comes.

And continued by saying, “This is what I’m going to say. It is not a move forward, and it is not a lateral move. It is a move in the wrong direction for a guy like Kyle Busch, I believe.”

That wasn’t it. Petty discussed this situation elaborately by adding, “It’s a move backwards. Here’s a team, who since Kevin Harvick left at the end of 2013 and took his 23 wins with him, they’ve only won seven times. In that same amount of time — and this is a little bit of apples to oranges — Kyle Busch himself has won two championships and 32 races. That’s with a totally different type of organization.”

Later on, Petty talked about how the RCR-prone driver has to build the organisation at this age. He also didn’t hesitate in adding, “He’s just past his prime. I’m not saying that he’s not still in his prime a little bit, so don’t hate me that bad, but his prime years were spent with Toyota and the Gibbs organization.

Lastly, Petty bluntly gave advice to the driver of #18 Toyota, Busch, who is set to return to his old manufacturer Chevrolet by saying that he “needs to look at Brad Keselowski year as it might be his future. And not look at Denny Hamlin” or someone like him.

Kyle Busch’s return to Chevrolet

#18 Joe Gibbs Racing driver who was without a sponsor for the upcoming season, finally landed with the team owner with whom he doesn’t share a pleasant memory with. Anyway, let bygones be bygones.

Although it is said that the “Rowdy” Busch career had finally come full circle.
