Novak Djokovic On Becoming The GOAT
In a recent talk with Nova TV, Novak Djokovic talked about how becoming the GOAT and breaking records is important to him. He said,
“I do not hide that I want to become the greatest tennis player in history. My ambition, desire, and goal is to break records for the longest time as number 1 in the world, and also, the number of Grand Slam tournaments won. These are like Mount Everest for tennis players in terms of success and achievement. But we’ll see if it happens.”
Even though Novak is 33 years old, he has been getting closer to these goals but the big question is – will he have enough time to reach them? On this topic, he said,
“I am no longer in my third decade, I have entered my fourth. By some sporting standards, I am no longer young and am slowly entering the last third of my career. I’m not thinking about the end, I’m not thinking when it could be, I feel good and above all, I love this sport,”

In the last couple of years, we have seen Novak play some of his best tennis despite his age. And this amazing tennis has gotten him closer to reaching one of his goals – the record for the most Grand Slams. He has 17 Majors which is 3 short of Roger’s 20 and he could very well go past him.
If Novak achieves this, there will be no doubt in people’s minds on whether he is the GOAT of tennis. His next opportunity to get even closer is going to come in August at the US Open. And he will be training hard to win it.
