Spa-Francorchamps is one of the fastest circuits in the world and also one of the most dangerous. The circuit has witnessed some truly horrifying crashes in its history. And on Saturday it was, yet again, the site of a sequence of events that rocked the motorsport world. In the W-Series qualifying, there was a huge incident at the famous Eau-Rouge and Raidillon corner.

There were six cars involved in the crash at one of the notorious corners at Spa. W-series drivers Ayla Agren and Beitske Visser were taken to the hospital for further checks after the crash.

W-Series driver Beitske Visser gives an update after a horrible crash at Spa

The crash in question happened a bit earlier on the circuit as the cars were on the climb to Eau Rouge and approaching the right-hander after the Raidillon.

Abbie Eaton, Marta Garcia, Sarah Moore, and Fabienne Wohlwend are the other drivers involved in the crash and are undergoing medical assessment by the W-Series.

Moore and Eaton triggered the crash as they both slid before the Kemmel Straight. This caused a chain of cars, including Garcia, Wohlwend, Ayla Agren, and Beitske Visser to come crashing into each other.

But according to W-series, no driver has been seriously injured in the crash. Beitske Visser took to social media to provide an update on her health after being taken to the hospital for checks.

“Thank you all for your messages that was a very scary one, but I think I had an angel on my shoulder. I’m very sore but luckily I have no fractures,” said Visser.

“Thankfully, it seems that everyone is okay. The cars have stood up unbelievably well to what looks like a massive crash, which is good to see.” Ryan said.

“Ayla Agren has been discharged from hospital. Beitske Visser is still in hospital — a CT scan has revealed no injuries. She is still awaiting the results of a leg X-ray but is in good spirits and discussing the accident.” said Ryan.

Since the crash, there has been uproar to make changes at the Eau-Rouge corner at Spa. This is the second major incident at the corner in the last three years.
