Lewis Hamilton breaks the internet
Lewis Hamilton has spent almost two decades in F1, perfecting his craft and creating the image of unwavering professionalism. Off the track, his willingness to stand up for causes that matter has always made him an inspiring figure on the grid. Hamilton never silenced himself for anyone. This time, however, he chose to express his emotions by rolling back the years and paying homage to a classic movie, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’.
And, of course, if you’ve seen the movie, you must have guessed why Hamilton decided to parody it. Featuring the legendary red 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, this tribute is for a film that Hamilton said is “one of my favourite movies since I was a kid,”. Needless to say, it also acts as an incredible promo for his upcoming debut with Ferrari, which will kick off at the Australian Grand Prix on Saturday.
Coming back to the video, Hamilton plays the role of the valet who picks up the Ferrari at a parking lot, assuring ‘Ferris Bueller’ that he is a “professional”, and we must say, Hamilton nailed the part. From his awkward pauses to his cheeky smile, the British icon looked like a natural on screen. He even teamed up with legendary actor Edward Notron as they drove the Ferrari.

A point that Hamilton touched upon in his Instagram post for the video, writing, “It definitely took a lot of cutting edge tech, production and planning to get right. Had to get the exact car too … it’s been a dream car since seeing the movie.” It’s a clever combination of nostalgia, humor, and high-tech production, with everyone from Will Buxton to Bubba Wallace praising his creativity.
Lewis gets the Oscar nod from fans!
“No better way to start the season than by fulfilling another dream,“ Hamilton captioned the post, revealing his lifelong admiration for the film and the excitement of his upcoming Ferrari debut. Fans and everyone in the world of motor racing were absolutely losing it, with F1 pundit Will Buxton, known for his insightful commentary, commenting, “😂 Absolutely incredible. It’s completely perfect.” Even 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace, who has often supported the same social causes as Hamilton, chimed in with sweet and short, “🔥🔥”, showing his appreciation for the absolute gem of a video.

This isn’t about just the video; this was about Hamilton’s transformation. After battling for years on the track and being a ‘professional’ off the track, it seems like Hamilton has finally decided to let go and have some fun. This transformation even led the Ferrari USA to comment, “Life moves pretty fast. So does @lewishamilton in a Ferrari. 🏎️🔥,” quoting the iconic line from the movie, where Ferris Bueller says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it”. Even the Silverstone circuit’s official page, a pillar of F1 tradition and culture, couldn’t help but comment, with a simple and succinct, “iconic.”
Fans even hinted that his change in demeanor was a result of his shift from Mercedes to Ferrari, with one fan commenting, “Ferrari really got Sir Lewis’ glow back😂😂.” Whatever the reason for this change, fans are loving this new Lewis Hamilton, with one fan saying what we all were thinking when we watched that video, “This is the best thing I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂.”
