Modern day wicket less wonders

Just as a batsman’s diligence is measured by his centuries, the same way the bowler’s worth is fathomed by the number of five wicket hauls he takes but sometimes this stat is misleading and does not take into account many parameters of bowling. Here is a list of bowlers who have no five wicket hauls in ODIs but still are decent in performance.

Ishant Sharma

He has been quite a busy bowler for India for quite a few years now and has been in erratic form over this time. However his temperament and commitment  have never been in question. Despite his efforts he has not managed to grab a 5 wicket haul after playing 76 odis and taking 106 wickets. His best figures in odis are 4-34.

Daryl Tuffey

Daryl Tuffey was one of a prominent kiwi bowler of his time and was known for his accurate and nippy bowling. However, his bowling stats suggested otherwise. After playing 94 odis and taking 110 wickets he was able managed best figures of 4-24.

Andrew Caddick

He was another promising english bowler who had a quite decent run in his international career. He spearheaded the english bowling attack for quite a while and was popular for his stylish action. However he wasn’t fortunate enough to get a five wicket haul throughout his career and managed best figures of 4-19.

Praveen Kumar

He rose to fame quite early in his career with a couple of remarkable bowling performances in the historic commonwealth bank series and became an agent of change for the Indian Cricket Team especially in bowling department. However he couldn’t sustain his fame and ran out of steam after few years and is still trying to make a comeback in the team. In his ODI career spanning 68 odis so far he has managed to grab 77 wickets at a best 4-31.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is yet another promising talent who came into the scene with a breathtaking show against Pakistan as he ripped through their top order and left them dumbstruck. He has  performed fairly well till now and has best figures of 4-8 after playing 50 odis.
