Tony Ferguson took on Charles Oliveira as the co-main event at UFC 256 tonight. Ferguson, who was on a record-breaking 12 fight win streak, saw it snapped earlier this year by Justin Gaethje at UFC 249.

Since his loss to Gaethje, Ferguson has been desperate to get back into the ring. He got an opportunity to redeem himself against a dangerous opponent on a seven-fight win streak in Charles Oliveira. A lot of fans and pundits alike felt that the fight would be a crossroads fight for Tony.

If he was able to win, he would put himself right back in the conversation for a title shot. However, if he lost the fight, it would be detrimental to his career and the fans and pundits would label him ‘finished’.

Do Bronx’ started off the fight well and dominated from the very first round. Towards the end of the first round, he had ‘El Cucuy’ in danger when he caught him in an arm-bar and hyper-extended his arm. Most fighters in that situation would have tapped, but Tony rallied on.

Most fans and pundits believed that the fight would be extremely competitive on the ground, given that both men are high-level black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. However, Oliveira completely dominated the fight on the ground and had a few good chances of securing a submission.
