Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier have finally agreed to fight each other. Outside working out the contracts, the fighters and the UFC both seem optimistic about this actually happening. While Conor wanted a fight in 2020, the UFC was unwilling to bump any of the already announced headliners for the rest of the year. The fight is most likely happening in January 2021.
McGregor had teased that the Poirier-McGregor fight will take place inside the AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. With Texas allowing fans for live shows again, the UFC could feasibly book AT&T Stadium and fill it to half capacity to welcome crowds back. By that point, it would be 11 months without fans in UFC events.
You’re a top man Jerry Jones!
A true leader among men! Reminds me so much of Lorenzo.
Let’s go Cowboys! https://t.co/Er4muaGDVg— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) October 16, 2020

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has a relationship with Conor and has commented on the possible booking of his stadium.
“Very much open to it. Very open to it. I’m a real admirer of his. He’s one of the neatest individuals I think I’ve met, period. He has an unbelievable — to be as physical as he is — he has an unbelievable personality and charisma. He’s special. It would be quite a day for AT&T Stadium to have him.”
Conor McGregor gets his way
McGregor said that he really wants the fight to happen in the stadium. However, White dismissed the idea of having a show with crowds at half capacity. He would prefer to wait for full audiences to be back rather than have a rushed show in January with crowd restrictions.

However, crowd restrictions don’t seem to be going away anytime soon. The COVID crisis cannot be tackled without a vaccine, and until then, social distancing is the best bet for safety. The UFC has done a great job running their shows safely and haphazardly bringing crowds back into the fold may be counterproductive.
It will seem like a waste of a Conor McGregor fight if crowds aren’t there. McGregor fights have the most electric fan engagement, something that has become a staple in itself. It remains to be seen if Conor can convince Dana to have this fight at the AT&T Stadium. Jerry Jones is open to it. Do you see it happening?
