Khamzat Chimaev was the breakout star of 2020. ‘Borz’, who burst onto the scene on Fight Island, registered three fights in the UFC in quick succession, breaking multiple records in the process. However, since then, Chimaev has been missing from the UFC. For someone who built a reputation for fighting often, Chimaev has been out of action for the better part of a year because of lingering health issues.

However, it appears as though ‘Borz’ is back to full-fledged training, according to his Instagram page. Chimaev posted a video of him honing his wrestling skills as he prepares for a return to the UFC octagon towards the tail end of this year.

When can we see Khamzat Chimaev back in action?

Khamzat Chimaev was scheduled to fight welterweight Leon Edwards. However, the fight had to be rescheduled multiple times before it was canceled. Chimaev, who has fought in two divisions in the UFC, has maintained that he would like to actively compete in two weight classes. For now, though, it looks as though ‘Borz’ will have to stick to welterweight, a division where he briefly held a rank.

He will make his return against Li Jiangling at UFC 267 in October. Should he return with a bang and match his stellar form from 2020, he will open himself up to a host of opponents at 170 lbs.

Given the back and forth that took place between them on social media last year, there is a possibility that ‘Borz’ could face Magny. Neil Magny, who sits at 8 in the UFC welterweight rankings, would be an excellent test for Chimaev.
