The UFC’s final PPV card of the year, UFC 269, was stacked with some incredible fights, including two title fights. American Top Team fighters Dustin Poirier and Amanda Nunes took on Charles Oliveira and Julianna Pena respectively in UFC championship fights. In the co-main event, a shock upset saw Amanda Nunes succumb to her first loss since 2014.

However, her teammate Dustin Poirier was hoping to realize his lifelong dream and secure the undisputed belt at 155-pounds for the first time in his career. Both men had similar routes to the title, having stumbled multiple times on the way to the pinnacle of the sport.

Dustin Poirier dominated the first round and had the champion hurt badly on multiple occasions. However, he was not able to get the finish. The second round was more in favor of Oliveira, who spent the better part of the second on top of ‘The Diamond’. He landed one devastating elbow after another, which had Poirier hurt badly.
