Kamaru Usman has been the champion of the 170-pound division since March 2019. Since then, the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ has defended his belt multiple times against the likes of Colby Covington, and Jorge Masvidal, among others, headlining multiple PPV events for the promotion.

A lot of Usman’s success as the welterweight champion is down to his parents and the upbringing he had. During his appearance on Steve Harvey’s “STEVE on Watch” show on Facebook Watch, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ surprised his parents with a brand new home to show his gratitude for making him the man that he is today.

Can Kamaru Usman make it 2-0 against Colby Covington?

Kamaru Usman is on track to defend his belt for the third time this year. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ started off his year with a third-round knockout win over Gilbert Burns in February 2021. Just two months later, Usman knocked out Jorge Masvidal in round two at UFC 261.

Following the win, Usman has taken a considerable amount of time away from the sport for some much-needed rest. His return fight however, might be the toughest test of his championship reign thus far. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ takes on Colby Covington in a rematch set for the ages at Madison Square Garden at UFC 268.

A lot has changed since the last time the two men faced each other. For starters, both fighters now train at new gyms with new coaches in their corner as compared to the first fight. In the first encounter, both men traded blow for blow till the dying seconds of the very last round when Usman eventually go the finish. The common consensus is that this time around, it will not be any different.
