After UFC 257, Dana White stated that he would be interested in matching up Chandler and Poirier for the belt. However, Dustin was not on board with the idea at all. He felt that Chandler was a newbie who just beat someone that he already beat and therefore a title shot was not warranted.

This means that the only viable option for Poirier and the UFC is to face him off against Charles Oliveira. The fight would be an extremely interesting bout between two fighters in the prime of their fighting career and at the top of the 155-pound division.
