Former RIZIN bantamweight champion Manel Kape took on Ode Osbourne in the featured bout on the early preliminary card at UFC 265. The bout took place at flyweight, where both men are unranked at this point in time. 

The fight started off well, with both men feeling each other out in the first round. However, as the fight went on, Kape started gaining more momentum and started landing his shots better. Kape, who trains at the American Kickboxing Academy, has definitely seen a progression in his striking game under the tutelage of Javier Mendez.

Towards the end of the first round, Kape landed a flying knee timed to perfection and put the lights out on Osbourne. The perfectly timed and executed strike handed him his maiden UFC win.

Manel Kape secures his first UFC with flying colors 

Kape, known for his striking prowess, used a lot of kicks and knees along with his hands and displayed a rounded striking game against ‘The Jamaican Sensation’. During the fight, Kape landed several leg kicks and even tried to land a few up top as well. However, they were all blocked by a very game opponent at UFC 265

In the final minutes of the round, as Osbourne was charging forward, Kape landed a flying knee right on the button. He followed that up with a few shots while Osbourne was on the ground. The referee stepped in after seeing that Osbourne could not defend himself. ‘Starboy’ landed 19 total strikes over the course of the fight, with an accuracy of 66%. He also landed 19 significant strikes, with an accuracy of 66%.

The UFC signed Kape as the RIZIN bantamweight champion. He made his debut in February and succumbed to a unanimous decision loss against Alexandre Pantoja. He then lost his next fight as well, this time against Matheus Nicolau. Therefore, as this is Kape’s maiden win in the UFC, he could not have asked for a better start to winning ways.
