Kamaru Usman has done it again, and this time he did it in spectacular fashion. After hearing people call him a boring fighter for the better part of two years, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ proved without a doubt that he is one of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC. He re-matched Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261. While he was expected to win, nobody expected him to win in such a fashion.

Masvidal talked up a big game about beating Usman and not being happy about how their first fight saw Usman out-wrestle him. However, Usman came out aggressive and won the first round. But in the second round, the reigning champion knocked Masvidal out cold for the first time in his UFC career.

Usman is now definitely the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC now. With the Masvidal feud in the rearview mirror, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is free to move on to the rematch with Colby Covington. The UFC has already announced that Covington will most likely be the next opponent for the title, so hopefully, that fight takes place soon.

Along with that, top welterweights in Leon Edwards, Gilbert Burns, and Stephen Thompson will all be fighting in the next few months. The division’s landscape may change, but the champion remains the same.
