The preliminary card at UFC Vegas 41 featured an exciting bout between Jai Herbert and Khama Worthy at lightweight. The former Cage Warriors champions was winless in his UFC career thus far, having succumbed to back-to-back losses against the likes of  Francisco Trinaldo and Renato Moicano.

Worthy on the other hand, also came into the bout on the back of two consecutive knockout losses against the likes of Ottman Azaitar and Jamie Mullarkey. The fight was a must-win for both men as the risk of getting cut from the promotion significantly increases once a fighter is on a three-fight skid.

Jai Herbert gets the job done in style at UFC Vegas 41

The Black Country Banger’ came into the fight knowing very well that he needed to win the fight to ensure his place in the promotion. And Herbert did just that. From the very first minute, both men met at the middle of the octagon and threw caution to the wind. Both men traded each other shot for shot.

While Worthy also landed a few good shots himself, it was Herbert who was able to rock his opponent with one of his punches. Once Herbert sensed that his opponent was wobbled, he unloaded an unending barrage of punches which ultimately dropped Worthy to the floor. ‘The Black Country Banger’ was able to land a few shots on the ground before the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.

Herbert shared his thoughts with Michael Bisping on his win in the post-fight interview. He said, “I came in the UFC and I came (up short) against two top veterans. I came against Khama and I knew I had to get the win to stay in the UFC and I did it.”
