The two will face off in a heavyweight co-headliner on a boxing fight card in Sydney. However, things got heated at the weigh-ins, as the two fighters began to throw punches at each other.

Mark Hunt vs Paul Gallen

After the two fighters weighed in, they were brought together for the stare-off. Hunt lunged and threw a half-hearted punch at his opponent before he was quickly held back by officials. The two spent the entire press conference talking trash to each other. Things escalated quickly, the two got into a scuff. \However, this could have been an attempt to sell the fight and get the fans excited.

Hunt has 13 wins in his professional MMA career, with 10 of those wins coming by KO/TKO. The ‘Super Samoan’ last fought two years ago when he lost to Justin Willis at UFC Fight Night 142 – Dos Santos vs. Tuivasa. The UFC cut Hunt after he had three consecutive losses to Willis, Alexey Oleynik, and Curtis Blaydes.

Paul Gallen is a former captain of the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the National Rugby League. This is not his first venture in the squared circle, as he is currently 9-0-1 as a pro-boxer. Gallen most recently faced fellow Australian footballer Barry Hall in November.

Bad terms with the UFC

Hunt has been on bad terms with Dana White and the UFC since the ‘Super Samoan’ was matched up against Brock Lesnar. Hunt initially lost the fight at UFC 200 – Tate vs. Nunes. However, the result was overturned as Lesnar would test positive for a banned substance.
