Kevin Holland vs Charlie Ontiveros was the second fight on the main card for UFC Vegas 12. The middleweight bout saw ‘Trailblazer’ Holland take on UFC debutant Ontiveros as he made his UFC debut. The newcomer was the biggest underdog on the card tonight.

With a win over ‘The American Bad Boy’, Holland extended his winning streak to 4-0 in 2020. ‘Trailblazer’ in his post-fight interview said that he wants to have another fight before the end of this year as he aims to ‘break records’. However, after his first-round win, he had a few words for the current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Kevin Holland takes a go at the ‘ex-champ’ Israel Adesanya

Holland stepped in as a replacement fighter tonight. However, he ended up fighting a replacement fighter himself. After Muradov withdrew from the fight, the UFC called upon Charlie Ontiveros for the opportunity of a lifetime.

‘Trailblazer’ looked comfortable from the first bell. In the short while that the fight lasted, he landed 33 strikes with a mind-boggling accuracy of 97%. He was also able to land 11 significant strikes with a 92% accuracy. However, it was a verbal tap that won him the fight as Ontiveros claimed he hurt his neck.

Following his win, however, Holland jumped on the cage and started talking trash to champion Israel Adesanya, who was in attendance.

In the post-fight interview, Michael Bisping asked Holland what was going on. ‘Trailblazer’ replied, “Ex-champ, Ex-champ real soon…. I think the guy is a phenomenal fighter, but he did something a couple of years ago in LA on my UFC debut, he knows what’s up. Then the other day when I seen him at the lobby he was trying to act all friendly, I just don’t play those games.  If you really want to get this smoke, let’s get this smoke….. So when I see him, I see him.”

Holland is currently unranked in the middleweight division. However, with an impressive win streak wins on the trot, it won’t be long before he finds himself ranked. If ‘Trailblazer’ is able to keep up the level of performances he has been displaying thus far, the top 10 is not far away as well.
