The pandemic in 2020 forced the UFC to shut its doors temporarily. However, Dana White and his team were the first sport to return to live-action. The promotion was also one of the very first if not the first sport to sell out an arena and put on a live event earlier this year at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida.

As an increasing number of countries return to normalcy, the UFC had set its sights on taking the show on the road. Prior to the pandemic, the promotion would routinely host shows in other countries in order to cater to different fan bases. The promotion had its eyes set on hosting its first event out of the United States in over a year and a half in September. Darren Till vs Derek Brunson on September 4th was set to take place in London.

Ariel Helwani shed light on the situation with a recent tweet. He said, “The Sept. 4 UFC event — headlined by Darren Till x Derek Brunson — is close to being moved back to Las Vegas from London, sources say.”

Derek Brunson looks like a man reinvigorated with his recent run of form. He is currently on a four-fight win streak and has secured wins over the likes of Kevin Holland, Edmen Shahbazyan, Elias Theodorou, and Ian Heinisch. Brunson is just a win away from securing a rematch against the current champion and former rival Israel Adesanya.

Till, on the other hand, who has been plagued with injuries, has not competed since July 2020. ‘The Last Stylebender’ has expressed interest in facing Till multiple times. The common consensus is that the winner of the fight would take on the winner of Adesanya vs Whittaker.
