Tony Ferguson took to Twitter earlier today to express his interest in fighting Dustin Poirier. Tony Ferguson Vs Dustin Poirier was slated to take place at UFC 254 on fight island on the same card as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. However, it looks as though this fight will not materialize.

Last week, in an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN, Dustin revealed that his fight with Tony was off.
Furthermore, he said that he had moved to South Florida to start his camp at ATT, with the hope that a fight would materialize. However, upon learning that the fight would not come to fruition, Dustin, along with his family, moved back to Lafayette where he resides.
“The UFC and I did not come to terms. I need to be compensated if they want this fight, simple as that. I’m a prizefighter and the prize needs to be right,” Dustin added.
Tony Ferguson has been in and around the title conversation for many years now. Unfortunately, he was never able to fight for the undisputed title.
However, he has fought for and won the interim title before. In May of this year, Tony Ferguson aimed to win his second interim belt against Justin Gaethje and scheduled his 5th fight with “The Eagle”
Justin had plans of his own at UFC 249. Not only did he stop a 12 fight unbeaten streak that Ferguson had, but also did it in such a way that not many expected. Gaethje thoroughly outclassed one of the best lightweights ever, earning a title shot in the process.

Recently Dana White was asked if the UFC was looking for a new opponent for “El Cucuy” or if the Poirier fight was salvageable. Dana replied saying, “No, We’re not even trying to salvage it. We’re getting him another fight”
