Jan Blachowicz bounced back from a rough start in the UFC to become the champion at 205-pounds- one of the most stacked divisions in the UFC. He achieved this in September at UFC 253 on Fight Island.

However, winning the title may not be his happiest moment in 2020. This means that he may have seen or experienced something way more significant than having Dana White wrapping the gold around his waist.

The Polish fighter took to Twitter to share a picture of him with his newborn baby. The caption said, “The royal line sustained. The heir to the throne is with us! Thank you Dorota, you are incredible! You are a better fighter than the UFC champion. Proud dad.”

Blachowicz welcomes his baby with his partner, Dorota Jurkowska. While speaking about fatherhood in an interview, Blachowicz said, “You know, I’m happy and scary in the same moment. I can not wait, but also it is something completely new for me. But I am happy you know, I cannot wait when I’m going to hold my son in my hands… I hear fathers hit two times harder, so gonna be new motivation for me.”

Jan Blachowicz was nearly cut from the UFC before becoming the champion

Blachowicz made his debut in the UFC in October 2014 with a TKO win over Ilir Latifi. However, since his debut, things did not go well for the Polish fighter. He lost four of his next five fights between April 2015 and April 2017 and was close to being cut.

However, he turned it around and secured an impressive win against Devin Clark. He then won his next three fights, but his title ambitions had to be put on hold after he lost to Thiago Santos.

However, he persevered and beat Luke Rockhold to kick start a three-fight win streak. This gave him a shot at the vacant UFC title against Dominick Reyes, who he beat in dominant fashion.

Blachowicz’s UFC career thus far has been extremely inspiring. Despite having multiple setbacks, the Polish fighter kept fighting and is now the undisputed champion at light heavyweight.
