Dustin Poirier has been in and around the title picture at lightweight for a few years now. Ever since his move up in weight, Poirier has fought the best, and has more often than not come out on top. The former interim champ will be hoping to avenge his loss against Conor McGregor when the two men face off early next year.

The lightweight division is extremely exciting at the moment. ‘The Eagle’ announced his retirement at UFC 254. This means that the likes of McGregor, Ferguson, Chandler, Gaethje and Poirier all find themselves with a good chance of winning the belt.

It was rumored that the rematch would be for the vacant title following Nurmagomedov’s retirement. However, White has rubbished all those rumors, confirming that Khabib is considering 30-0, and therefore, there will be no interim or vacant title fights anytime soon.

‘The Notorious’ and ‘The Diamond’ fought each other at UFC 178. At the time, Dustin Poirier was an already established featherweight. Conor, on the other hand, was an up-and-coming prospect looking to prove himself against a tough adversary.
