Ciryl Gane secured UFC gold for the first time in his career at UFC 265. In doing so, he became just the 15th fighter to capture UFC gold with an undefeated record following the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Israel Adesanya among others. Gane’s performance against Lewis was without a doubt his best performance in the UFC to date, given what was at stake and the opponent he was up against.
On his way to sealing UFC gold, Gane broke a host of records. As tweeted by Aaron Bronsteter of TSN, “Since his UFC debut, Ciryl Gane has not lost a round. He has a single 10-9 round scored against him (Round 1 against Volkov on one scorecard).”

Gane has the fourth-highest significant strike differential in UFC heavyweight history at (+314). ‘Bon Gamin’ also has the fourth-highest distance strike accuracy in UFC Heavyweight history at (55.4%). In more ways than one, Gane’s performance against Lewis was record-breaking.
What is next for Ciryl Gane?
MMA factory and Fernand Lopez first gained attention when they nurtured arguably the scariest knockout artist the UFC had ever seen in Francis Ngannou. Under Lopez’s tutelage, Ngannou reached the pinnacle of the sport when he faced Stipe Miocic for the title at UFC 220. ‘The Predator’ came up short on the night as he lost via unanimous decision. He then switched camps after an unamiable split with Lopez and MMA factory.

Lopez has now nurtured another extremely talented heavyweight in ‘Bon Gamin‘ who is ready to unify the title against his former teammate and training partner Francis Ngannou. Both men have trained together for a good period during their time with the MMA factory In Paris and have a good understanding of what the other fighter brings to the table.
It will be interesting to see how the fight plays out, given the two men know each other very well. Also, it will be interesting to see if Lopez can come up with a game plan to defeat his former star pupil in ‘The Predator’.
