Ronda Rousey famously paved the way for women in mixed martial arts. The decorated judo practitioner convinced Dana White to let women fight in the UFC. Prior to his meeting with Rousey, White had been adamant that women would never fight under his promotion. Since then, the likes of Amanda Nunes, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, and Rose Namajunas, among others, have lit up the UFC with their skill.

Over the past few years, Amanda Nunes has cemented her place as the GOAT when it comes to women’s MMA. ‘The Lioness’ has completely obliterated everyone in her path in not one, but two divisions. No one in the promotion’s history, apart from Nunes, has held and defended two belts simultaneously. With challenger after challenger falling short, it is only natural to wonder if Nunes can ever be beaten, and if so, who the person to do it will be.

One name that pops up time and time again is Kayla Harrison. However, in a recent interview with MMA Junkie, coach Mike Brown put an end to speculations of a possible fight between the two. He said, “Yeah, I mean this is the dream fight people want to see. But this is same team, same gym, not going to happen I would imagine. Different organizations, different trajectories, and there is plenty to eat out there.”

Harrison, one of the most sought-after talents in the world, has a plethora of options to choose from. The UFC obviously is one such option. However, at this point in time, it is unclear if we will see Harrison in the UFC, given Dana White has not been particularly interested in having her on board.

It will be interesting to see where Harrison eventually ends up. Fight fans will be hoping to see her in the UFC so that she can get tested against the very best in the world.
