Matchups are coming in thick and fast as the UFC aims to sort out its calendar for the final few months of 2021. This time around, an interesting welterweight clash has been announced. The promising young talent, Sean Brady, takes on a veteran in Michael Chiesa. The two men will face off on a fight night card set to take place on November 20th.

Brady was scheduled to take on Kevin Lee the past weekend. However, an infection forced him out of the fight. Thankfully, it has not taken too long to get Brady booked in for a fight. The fight against ‘Maverick’ will be a litmus test for the promising young talent. A win will definitely elevate his status in the 170-pound division.

Michael Chiesa vs Sean Brady- a preview

Chiesa has been in the UFC since 2012 when he won The Ultimate Fighter against Al Iaquinta. During his time in the promotion, Chiesa has competed in two weight classes. ‘Maverick’ has been extremely successful following his move up to 170-pounds. After two back-to-back losses at 155-pounds against Kevin Lee and Anthony Pettis, Chiesa moved up to 170-pounds.

Currently 4-1 at welterweight, ‘Maverick’ succumbed to a loss in his most recent outing against Luque at UFC 265. He will be aiming to bounce back into the win column in his next fight. However, given the name he is going up against, it will be easier said than done.

Brady entered the UFC with a lot of hype surrounding him, given he was a dominant champion with Cage Fury FC and had defended his belt multiple times. Brady made his promotional debut in October 2019 with a lopsided unanimous decision win over Court McGee. The 28-year-old won his next three fights to go 4-0 in the UFC. Brady has looked extremely impressive in his fights thus far, but he has faced no one like Chiesa till now.

If he can secure a win over a veteran in Chiesa, Brady would position himself well among the elites at 170-pounds. He would then just be a win or two away from securing a title shot at welterweight.
