Jon Jones has been ruling the light heavyweight division for the better part of a decade now. Ever since he won the belt and became the youngest person to do so, ‘Bones’ has been defending his belt against one former champion after another. During his time at light heavyweight, he always teased a move up in weight; however, he never committed to it.
Recently, however, Jones announced that he would move up in weight and relinquished his title at 205 pounds. His move up to heavyweight comes at a time when the Heavyweight division is buzzing with some extremely dangerous fighters.

‘Bones’ was open to a match against ‘Izzy,’ however, ‘The Last Style Bender’ declined as he felt he had to establish himself at middleweight before he could move up.
Recent developments in the middleweight division have meant that ‘The Last Style Bender’ is moving up in weight to fight Jan Blachwoicz.
Fans and pundits alike believed that Israel’s move up in weight might entice Jones to stick around at 205 pounds to fight Israel Adesanya. However, it looks as though Jones is laser-focused on his mission to become a champion at heavyweight.

Jones joins the heavyweight division at an exciting time. Miocic is the champion and is most likely set to face Ngannou next. Derrick Lewis takes on Curtis Blaydes next weekend and the winner of that fight is surely next in line for the title shot.
