Former UFC middleweight champion turned analyst Michael Bisping trashed UFC middleweight elite Paulo Costa after the latter gave excuses for his loss to champion Israel Adesanya last year.
Bisping lashed out at Costa in the recent episode of his podcast ‘Believe You Me’. The former middleweight champion said, “Paulo Costa gave his first interview since losing his bid for the middleweight title. In it, Costa explained the story behind drinking the wine the night before his fight. I never liked that story- or that excuse.”
“Let’s call it for what it is. Izzy beat the s*** out of you. I don’t care how much wine you had… You didn’t do anything. You stood there and let Izzy piece you up,” he added.

Costa stated that after making weight for the fight, he suffered from muscle cramps, which stopped him from falling asleep. To combat this, the Brazilian drank a bottle of wine. But, according to him, he was still feeling the effects of the alcohol when he awoke and made his way to the octagon.

Bisping thrashing Costa shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The first British-born UFC champion always gave his heart out in his fights and gave no excuses. His hard-working personality made him the household name that he is today. So, his reaction to Costa’s statements surprises no one.
Michael Bisping backs his words with a story
In order to prove he meant everything to what he said about Costa, Bisping harked back to his match against Vitor Belfort.
“I’ll tell you something. When I fought Vitor Belfort and got head kicked, and I lost my eye- And I’ve never said this because it’s my decision,” Bisping said. “I had a few beers the night before (and) I was sitting at the f*cking counter. I couldn’t sleep either.”

“Exactly the same situation. Main event, it’s a big fight, couldn’t sleep. I thought a couple of beers, no big deal… I didn’t start saying: ‘guys I was drunk!'”
