Bellator 263 was a massive event for the promotion and arguably one of its best cards to date. A.J McKee dethroned long-time champion and one of the biggest names in Bellator to win the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix and take home a cool $1 Million along with his new shiny belt.
Following the win, there was a lot of chatter as to how McKee would fare against the best at 145-pounds in the UFC. Max Holloway, Brian Ortega, and Alexander Volkanovski being a few of the names mentioned.

During the post-fight press conference, Coker shared his thoughts on a potential cross-promotional fight between McKee and a UFC featherweight champion. He said, “Yeah I mean, I would love to see him fight against other people as well you guys would also. It is not going to happen because it is not the UFC’s business model to do it. But you tell me, this kid can go in there and fight anybody right now. Everybody knows he can do it. If they want to get it on, we will do it in a second.”

Is a cross-promotional fight between Bellator and UFC possible?
‘The Mercenary’ is at the top of the world right now. He is a young undefeated champion who has finished four of his last five opponents in brutal fashion. He also just beat one of the best-ever fighters in Bellator history in devastating fashion. Therefore, it is only natural for the fans and media to wonder how he would fare against the best that the UFC has to offer.

However, Dana White has shot down the idea of a cross-promotional event multiple times in the past stating that he does not need Bellator. White has maintained this stance for a very long time now and it does not look like it will change anytime soon. However, if there was ever an opportunity and a fighter to take on in a cross-promotional event, A.J McKee is most-definitely the right guy for it.
