Petr Yan, the current interim champion of the UFC’s bantamweight division, is widely regarded as one of the best boxers in the sport. ‘No Mercy’ started off training strictly boxing before making the switch to MMA. Therefore, he has a strong base in the sport of boxing.
Yan recently went toe-to-toe with another exceptional striker in the UFC in Cory Sandhagen and beat him. He has since garnered even more praise for his boxing. The likes of Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, among others to name a few, have spoken highly of Yan in the weeks following his interim title win.
Fellow bantamweight fighter Adrian Yanez, who fights this weekend, spoke about his boxing skills and compared them to the interim champion.

He said, “Even in the Cory Sandhagen vs. Petr Yan fight, when I’m outside observing and looking in, I could see the high levels. I could also see, ‘This is what I would do in this situation.”
Yanez continued, “From what I’m looking at — my skills against Cory Sandhagen, or Petr Yan — for the boxing’s sake, I like my chances against Petr Yan because I feel like I have some of the best boxing in the 135 division. But they’re all super, super tough fights. Just getting into the top 15, you’re fighting nothing but killers. You don’t have an easy fight when you get there so, of course, they all excite me.”

Can Adrian Yanez maintain his spotless record in the UFC this weekend against Davey Grant?
Adrian Yanez made his UFC debut on Dana White’s Contender Series with a knockout win over Brady Huang. Since then, Yanez has fought thrice in the UFC. All three of his fights have ended in knockout wins against the likes of Victor Rodriguez, Gustavo Lopez, and most recently, Randy Costa.

In Grant, Yanez faces a 35-year-old veteran who is 3-1 in his last four fights. A win over Grant will surely catapult Yanez into the top 15 in the UFC’s 135-pound division. It will be interesting to see if Yanez can maintain his 100% finish rate in the UFC against a fighter who has never been knocked out in his professional MMA career.
