Former UFC dual division champion and now retired fighter Daniel Cormier and journalist Ariel Helwani got emotional as they filmed their last episode of the ‘DC & Helwani Show’. The duo would analyze different matchups and fighters on the show which had become quite a hit with the audience. The decision to split came after Helwani decided to part ways with the ESPN promotion.
Talking about the wind-up, both discussed their fond experience of starting the show and ultimately attracting huge followers in the due course of time. “I can’t believe it’s ending,” Cormier said.

Helwani added, “My whole time at ESPN is intertwined with you. You are the constant presence from beginning to end, my friend. I said this story many times about how we met for the first time in person.”
Helwani terms Daniel Cormier as one of his best friends
The reporter then described the time when Cormier had invited him for a lunch date. He described how he’d declined his offer for lunch by stating his apprehension about eating with fighters. However, Cormier had told him they would one day become friends, which they eventually did.

Helwani further added, “And I have said it before since we have done this show that I consider you as my friend.” He even mentioned how Cormier would be the guest out of a close group of people at his wedding.
“That’s how close we became. That’s why I truly feel bad about the end of the show,” he added. “DC and Helwani, as a friendship, will never end. I consider you as one of the best friends that I have in my life. I’m so appreciative for what we got to do together.”
Cormier (22-3) described how Helwani has been biased in his reports about him and has helped him grow leaps and bounds in his career. According to him, in all the biggest moments of his career, Helwani was always present.
They will be back soon to host a show

Although they are calling it quits, for now, both opined that they will be again collaborating down the line soon. Helwani also thanked Cormier for coming on board for the show, although the latter had enough on his platter to turn down the offer.
In the end, Helwani concluded by saying, “We will do it again someway, somehow, somewhere down the line, but for now- piece.”
The fans will be eager to watch the two collaborate soon. After all, it was the collaboration of the best of the two worlds.
