UFC 259 is in the books. The main event saw one of the biggest fights of the year when middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, moved up to light heavyweight to challenge Jan Blachowicz for the 205-pound title. Adesanya went into the fight undefeated and was expected to win the bout en-route to setting up a fight with Jon Jones.

However, that isn’t what happened as Jan Blachowicz beat Israel Adesanya in a five-round decision win. The fight was a close affair and was 2-2 heading into the fifth round on most scorecards. But Jan used his wrestling to stifle Izzy in the final two rounds to walk away with the win, handing Izzy his first career loss.

The fight started out slow, as both men were evidently feeling each other out. However, as Izzy kept the pace up, Blachowicz was a little slow to start, but held his own in a very close round.
Jan started landing big shots of his own in the second round and had Izzy scrambling. The power difference was evident, as Jan’s strikes were doing major damage to Adesanya.
Izzy looked alive in the third round and fought really hard, with many awarding him the round with a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth.
Blachowicz kept his offense up and cracked Adesanya with some strikes in the fourth round. However, it all was to set up a sensational takedown that changed the course of the fight.

The Polish fighter would control position for most of the final two rounds, except for a good opening from Adesanya in round 5.

The scorecards were a little lopsided, with judges giving Jan multiple 10-8 rounds for how he ended that fight. However, they chose the right winner, even if the scores were unfair.
