Newly crowned UFC interim heavyweight champ Ciryl Gane picked up a sensational TKO win over knockout king Derrick Lewis in the main event of UFC 265. The Frenchman whose rise to the stardom has rather come quickly, will fight his former training partner and currently undisputed champ Francis Ngannou next.
While the win over Lewis was enough for the day, ‘Bon Gamin’ was not content with it. The Frenchman took to Twitter and posted a photo where he can be seen walking away from a depressed Lewis after his win. He also captioned the image as, “HeIsOkay”.

Gane’s tweet can be assumed as a slight towards Lewis as this was the catchphrase used by Lewis. Anyone who follows Lewis’ Instagram would know this catchphrase. The Houston native often uses this term in his Instagram posts to show someone in some sort of tricky situation.

A few days back, Lewis had uploaded a picture of a man trying to break into his vehicle. According to the ace reporter, Ariel Helwani, Lewis knocked him out in the scuffle. Helwani further added some spice to it and used Derrick’s catchphrase to end his quotes.
Derrick Lewis tells me he noticed a man trying to break into his SUV this morning. He knocked the man out. The police then apprehended him.
I believe the correct thing to say here is, “he’s ok.”https://t.co/3IVUFKlQBL

What’s next for Derrick Lewis after losing to Ciryl Gane?
Perhaps the worst thing that could happen to a fighter is to lose in front of his home crowd. A titular fight, a sea of fans cheering his name every second. This expectation can either make or break a fighter. Unfortunately for Lewis (25-8), he had to see his name in the second one. So what’s next for him now?
He now needs to regroup with his team and look at the possibilities to enter the title race again. There are few opponents who could help him in doing this.
The first name coming to the mind could be a clash with Jairzinho Rozenstruik. The latter recently tasted a victory over Augusto Sakai and is looking to break into the picture. A fight between the two could do wonders for both.

Another name that comes to mind is the former heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic. The latter recently showed his apprehension with UFC for not giving him a rematch. But later, the UFC boss clarified Stipe wants to fight Jon Jones.
While the fight is unlikely to happen this year as Jones has already set his eyes for the 2022 debut. So, Stipe could look to fight Lewis instead as Gane and Ngannou will face each other later this year.
