Colby Covington is riding a wave of appreciation for his spectacular performance against former champion, Tyron Woodley. At UFC Vegas 11, Covington put on one of his best performances so far. The former Interim Champion dominated from start to finish and broke Tyron Woodley’s rib to secure a stoppage win.

Colby followed the win up with a call outs to a former friend and training partner, Jorge Masvidal, and current champion Kamaru Usman. ‘Chaos’ also received a phone call from President Donald Trump who congratulated him on his sublime performance against Woodley. However, the fighter turned his attention to another weight class and took a shot at predicting a winner.

In a recent chat, Colby was asked to make his pick for UFC 254 between Justin Gaethje and Khabib Nurmagomedov. ‘Chaos’ replied, “Uhh you know it’s tough to say. I really don’t know. I think it will be a good fight. It’s good for Justin, you know, he’s looked good lately. But I don’t know, he fights recklessly. He has got the good wrestling accolades to try and stop Khabib.”

Covington added, “I know Khabib does not want to come up to 170, and face a guy like me. Because he knows he can not take me down, and then he’s just going to get out-struck. So this will be his first test with a guy who can actually wrestle. It should be interesting.”

Colby now finds himself in an interesting position. ‘Chaos’ mentioned that he would like to fight Jorge Masvidal or Kamaru Usman next. If he were to fight Kamaru Usman, he will get a second shot at the title and avenge his loss at UFC 245.

However, the taunt to ‘The Eagle’ is telling and it will be interesting to see if the two clinical combatants ever fight. Their wrestling skills will provide a grappling masterclass, and it has all the makings of a fantasy fight. Covington is a brash persona but is a top fighter who bases his trash talk on facts. What do you make of his comments on the UFC 254 main event?
