The rivalry between Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal is getting even more heated with each passing day. The last time the two men faced each other was at UFC 251. ‘Gamebred’ stepped in on short notice to fight against Usman after his opponent, Gilbert Burns, pulled out of the fight due to a positive COVID test.
The event did extremely well and was the second most successful PPV of 2020. It was just shy of UFC 246 headlined by Conor McGregor. Therefore, it makes a lot of sense from a business point of view to run it back between the two men.
However, recent exchanges on Twitter might suggest that the champion has something else in mind apart from Jorge Masvidal.

To which the ‘BMF’ replied, “That’s what I thought. Full camp he says nope! Got cold feet when you heard we said yes #freebritney”
After a spectacular title defense at UFC 258, Usman called out the UFC’s BMF. He stated that the American Top Team fighter took the fight at short notice, as he had a built-in excuse. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ then took it a step forward and challenged Masvidal, stating that he would not be able to beat him even with a full training camp.

Shortly after, Masvidal’s manager tweeted that he would be open to a season of The Ultimate Fighter with Usman and Masvidal as head coaches. It seemed as though the idea was picking up momentum as ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ shared pictures of him with Dana White. The MMA community assumed that he was meeting with the UFC brass to discuss a possible deal for a TUF coaching gig.
